1940’s Christmas Radio Music Hour
This annual fundraiser is the largest for the Hickory Music Factory. The show started in 2012, with their first sold-out performance on the evening show of Saturday, December 14th, 2019. The show is a recreation of an old-time radio broadcast from the 1940’s. These shows were sometimes performed live in front of a studio audience, from the skits to the music to the sound effects.
Such performances were never intended to be visual show for the live audience because, they felt, the mind is the greatest theater. The millions listening at home were treated to a show that was more personal, and perhaps more realistic, than the live audience. These shows were put together rather quickly because of budget and time, with usually only a single rehearsal before the live performance. The Hickory Music Factory follows this same workflow, with a single rehearsal hours before the matinee preference. Undoubtably, this fall-down-the-steps-and-land-on-your-feet approach has been working, as the 1940’s Christmas Radio Music Hour has gained in popularity year after year. We hope to see you at the next show!
