The Hickory Music Factory (HMF) hosts dozens of events and programs in the Catawba community and serves over 20,000 people each year. The majority of these programs are free and open to the public and reach out to all ages, from children to seniors. HMF Tribute Concert

The Hickory Music Factory host their annual “Tribute Concert” featuring the Hickory Jazz Orchestra. HMF pays tribute to those people who have helped to promote and foster music within our community. Past recipients honored have been, Jim Calabrese Randy Ingold, G.E. Smithson, Jimmy Lackey, Charles Deal, Lou V. Bean, Dr. Ralph Gabriel, and Frank DiFabio.

Swingin Under the Stars

The annual Swingin Under the Stars, with the Hickory Jazz Orchestra (HJO), is a community swing dance event and features big band arrangements of jazz standards from the great American songbook. Swingin Under the Stars along with the Hickory Jazz Orchestra was formed in 2008 thanks to funding by the United Arts Council of Catawba County, and the help of Hickory Downtown Development Association. In 2009, Swingin Under the Stars was awarded the “Best Outdoor Event for North Carolina” by the NC Department of Commerce Main Street Center. This annual cultural event is held on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and continues to grow and attracts thousands of patrons each year. Swingin Under the Stars is also apart of the ever popular “Jazz on Tap” hosted by Rick Cline every Sunday night at the Olde Hickory Taproom.

Hickory Oktoberfest

The Hickory Music Factory hosts the HMF Stage at Hickory Oktoberfest each year. The HMF stage focuses on teens and provides a platform for young aspiring musicians to have and opportunity to play.


Thanks-Giving Jam

The Thanks-Giving Jam is an annual event for the Hickory Music Factory. The Jam features select artists/bands from the area to come and showcase their talents. From HMF students to touring musicians, you never know who might surprise you to show up and play.

1940s Christmas Radio Hour

Journey back in time to the mayhem and madness of live radio production and watch it all unfold as you would back in the 40’s. The 1940s Christmas Radio Hour serves as the main fundraiser for the Hickory Music Factory and it helps provide music programs and events for the community for the year and features the Hickory Jazz Orchestra.
