Alan Mearns’ classical guitar ensemble will be available for teenage and adult students that can read music at an intermediate level or above. Students will learn the essential musical, communicative and cooperative skills necessary for ensemble playing. The class will also provide solo guitarists with the welcome relief of simpler mostly single-line parts that will add to a larger tapestry.
At the end of each section (if time permits) there will also be a chance for students to perform solo pieces for a welcoming audience of their peers, thereby gaining essential performance experience. Occasionally pizza will be involved in some way. (This includes short masterclasses in pizza theory and pizza history.) The class is $100 for HMF students and $125 to non-students.
